March List

Disclosure: Not going to issue a rating for the Renegade Games

1. Forbidden Desert:

I have to say I enjoyed this more than Forbidden Island. It is definitely more of a challenge. It was pretty fun and easy to play so I would gladly play this one again. Would never request it. Interested in trying the next in the series called Forbidden Sky or something like it. Love the art and the components in this game.

6/10 After 1 play (Owned)

2. The Cousins’ War:

2 player game with a lot of little rules. Way too long for what it is and just overall not that interesting for me. Actually reminded me a little of 13 minutes which I learned last month. I didn’t care for that either, but happy to have tried it.

5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

3. Push Fight:

Fast Abstract game. You are simply trying to push the other player off before they get you. Clever game and very easy to learn. I had a good time playing and got my butt kicked, which is to be expected. Would definitely give this another go.

7/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

4. Valeria: Card Kingdoms:

People might debate with me and there are some differences, but this game is the same as Machi Koro. I do like the updated changed and the artwork which brings the score a bit higher than the other. I still wouldn’t have to play this again though.

5.5/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

5. Too Many Bones:

To be fair, I was pretty sure this game wasn’t for me, but I wanted to see what it was all about. It really is a RPG and you have to like that story telling to enjoy this one. It was just a miss for me, but I understand it has a place for those interested.

4/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

6. Spires:

Small card game with an interesting hand-management/bidding mechanic. I quite enjoyed this game and would gladly revisit it when presented with an opportunity.

7/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

7. Tenzi:

Ended up actually playing this game, in 2 ways! Apparently there are a number of ways you can play this game. I mean if you just want to roll lots of dice then this might be the game for you. How did I get talked into this again? James? HOW?

4/10 After 2 plays (Not Owned)

No Pic- but is basically 10 dice.

8. Flash Point: Fire Rescue:

I have owned this for a while and finally got to play James’ copy. He has super cool pieces though. This is a pretty tough co-op game and I was happy he knew what was going on. Overall the game is pretty fiddly and not intuitive with the movement and placement of fire. Still had fun.

5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

9. Doodle Rush:

I love drawing games and this was great. Definitely reminded me of Pictomania, but you are all drawing at the same time then all guessing at the same time, it is chaos. I would definitely play again.

6.5/10 After 1 play (not Owned)

10. Ink Monsters:

Set Collection and simple game to learn. You are using your cards in your hand also so there is some hand management too. Could be a good family weight game.

5/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

11. Ave Roma:

I have been wanting to try this one for a long while because there is so much appeal in how it looks. Upon playing the icons are wicked tiny. Game play was too long, but there were some interesting choices to be made. One I should probably play again.

6/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

12. Catch the Moon:

I have been wanting to play this for a long while. I definitely would like to pick up a copy because it is just so interesting to photograph. The pieces are just amazing! I also love a great dex game!

7.5/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

13. Welcome to…:

Instant buy. This game is amazing and totally my thing. Several options but you only select one each round and each player has the same information. I love the multiplayer solo games like this.

8.5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

14. The Shipwreck Arcana:

Now this game was interesting. Co-op deduction type. Sometimes it is just luck of the draw, but there can certainly be an interesting puzzle involved. I would try this again.

6/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

15. Wonderland:

I have played this one a lot of times now and I am still not sick of it. I really have been enjoying this. All I can say is if you are interested there is not a big investment and it is only going to be around for ITTD so be on close watch at your FLGS.

-/10 (Owned)

16. The Mind:

THIS GAME! Wow really fun times and super hard. You need the right crowd of people to play though, it is what will make or break the game for you. Wont be for everyone, but many many people will enjoy it. I freaking love it.

9.5/10 After several play (Not Owned/wishlist)

17. Krass Kariert:

Super interesting card management game. I really want to play again, I think this can be a lot of fun. It is hard not to rearrange your hand…

7.5/10 After 1 play (Not Owned/ Wishlist)

18. Prototype- Mutations:

Jon’s design. Pretty abstract and you get to roll a bunch of dice. I felt kinda hosed since I never rolled a pair. I am not very good at dev work, but I tried to express my feelings. I guess nothing really excited me about it. Seemed to work though. I won’t rate it since it is still in early stages

-/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

19. Prototype- Sand Castles:

Oh I got to play the prototype possibly involving Sand Castles and it was just delightful! Everything I love in a game, puzzle type mix of Patchwork and perhaps Splendor. I am so looking forward to this game! Let’s hope my impression of the game will entice them to keep it sand castle themed.

9/10 After 2 plays (Not Owned/ wishlist)

20. Drop It:

So simple, why hasn’t this been done. Amazingly fun abstract/ dexterity game. I can’t wait to play this more and more! It is just pure fun! I got to play the super huge version, but I look forward to trying the basic one too!

8.5/10 After 1 play (not Owned/ wishlist)

21. Scare It!:

Super cute and totally easy to travel with and teach whomever! Simple abstract game to try and keep you color and your animals on the board! I will happily play this whenever.

7.5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

22. Last Mouse Lost:

You do just kinda want to play with the bubbles of the coaster-type board. Very simple abstract game, I wish there were more colors. Accessible and easy to play. I could see this working in lots of family houses. Happy to play whenever.

6.5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

23. Pit Crew:

Real-time card placement, then dice rolling. We played a bit incorrectly, so I would definitely want to play again. I didn’t mind the mechanics or what was happening it just wasn’t all that interesting. I like that the cars had other games on them. That was cute advertisement.

6/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

24. Caylus:

I haven’t played this until now because I felt I would simply not enjoy it. I apparently know myself, but I still had a good time giving ed a hard time. All in all the game had some interesting ideas but I just have seen better since this one. I really don’t like the white pawns at all.

3.5/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

25-40. Unpublished Prototypes:

41. Duelosaur Island:

Prototype, but awesome. I think it takes ideas and a few mechanics from the base game and really creates a interesting dynamic 2p game. Very excited for this one.

8.5/10 After 1 play (Not Owned/ pre-ordered)

42. Mazing:

Interesting abstract game which reminds me of Quoridor but you are building a maze. You almost need to build the maze to block yourself, to create a problem for the other player. There is certainly a lot to think about. Disliked that it is a roll n move though. Everything else was great.

6.5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

43. Fairy Tile:

This is a top quality production. The minis in this game are painted and awesome. I LOVE the artwork. Nice abstract game to meet the requirements of your card. Easily a great family game with simple options. I really liked it.

7.5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

44. Manhattan:

New version of the game is just so pretty! Looks like a city building game, but it is really an abstract. Do you screw over this person now to try and gain control, or wait till the end of the round. Simple game that families and casual gamers will grasp easily. I enjoyed it.

7/10 After 1 play (Owned)

45. Colortopia:

Speed game with color recognition. Yeah I was drawn to this and Dan had it so I really wanted to play. I had a lot of fun, and would definitely play this whenever requested.

7/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)

46. Favelas:

Had higher hopes for this one. Some interesting mechanics but the overall feeling left me incomplete. I didn’t feel I had enough control and interesting choices to make an impact. #disappointed

5.5/10 After 1 play (Owned)

47. Decrypto:

This is lots of fun. More complicated than Codenames, therefore less accessible, but lots of fun to try and outwit your opponents. I look forward to playing this more!

8/10 After 1 play (Owned)

48. Shaky Manor:

Dex game!Match the common pattern before others. This is just fun. I even hate spiders, but I love that everyone has a room and is working on the same thing. It won’t get played a lot but I still want it!

8/10 After 1 play (Not Owned)
